Wet road conditions may be to blame for the death of a young male driver on Highway 44 Sunday afternoon.  California Highway police say the driver of a White Mustang was traveling east in Highway 44.  For reasons yet unknown to the investigators, the car swerved across the center line and hit a tree on the northern shoulder of the road.

Fire crews were dispatched to the scene.; the vehicle was towed and will be assessed for mechanical failure.   The driver was not ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt.  Investigators are trying to determine if speed or weather was a factor in the collision.
