This Holiday Season, Stay Home, Stay Safe in LA

The LA County Department of Health advises local residents to stay home with their immediate families over the holidays and avoid gathering between households. As of December 14, California reported 1,615,692 COVID cases and 21,200 deaths. The surge represents a 132.9% increase over the last two weeks. Just over 10% of the tests are coming back positive.

While it may not be the ideal way to spend the holiday season, Ellis Injury Law encourages all of our clients, friends, and family members to stay at home and stay safe so that we can hopefully bring the pandemic to an end as soon as possible in 2021. We’re all in the same boat, and we completely understand your frustrations during these challenging times. Let’s count the blessings we do have and hang in there a little bit longer!

Latest COVID restrictions in Los Angeles

Church services and protests are constitutionally protected, but local restrictions issued on December 14th include:

  • LA residents shall remain in their homes, except for work, medical appointments, and essential goods.
  • Residents shall not gather indoors or outdoors with members outside their immediate households.
  • Lounges, nightclubs, bars, gambling facilities, indoor play places, and entertainment venues are closed.
  • Museums, zoos, spas, salons, and indoor gyms are closed.
  • Restaurants are open for takeout-only.
  • Schools are distance learning only, except for select individuals with IEPs, ESL, or special needs.
  • Day camps can remain open but must close for two weeks if more than three cases arise.
  • Fitness facilities may hold outdoor classes as an “essential health service,” at 50% capacity.

These rules are in place at least through December 20. While this is not the way we had hoped the holiday season would turn out, there is no denying the impact the COVID surge is having on the region.

From your friends here at Ellis Injury Law, stay home and stay safe this holiday season. We all send you our warmest wishes for a Happy New Year!
