San Dimas Crash Snarls Traffic

Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer

A two-vehicle crash in San Dimas on June 20 backed up traffic as CalTrans waited for a tow truck and other personnel to arrive. Video footage of the crash showed that the front of at least one vehicle was severely crumpled. It was not immediately known whether there were any injuries. At least one family appeared to be waiting on the side of the road, according to news reports.

The accident occurred on EB 210 at Lone Hill Avenue in San Dimas.

Vehicle crashes are a significant cause of injury and death throughout the U.S. Roughly 2 million people are injured every year in traffic accidents, and over 32,000 people are killed, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The death rate from vehicle crashes in the U.S. is more than double the rate in other countries with a high standard of living.

What to Do in the Aftermath of a Crash

Being in a traffic collision can be frightening and disorienting. As can be seen from initial news reports on the San Dimas crash, it sometimes takes time for emergency responders and police to arrive.

While it isn’t possible at this point to know who or what was responsible for the San Ditmas crash, there are steps that people in a traffic collision should always take. First, call the police. All accidents should have a police report that establishes the facts of the crash. The police will notify emergency responders if there are any injuries requiring an ambulance. If there are, they need to be seen to immediately.

It’s also important to take pictures of the scene and any injuries. If you should want to talk to an attorney about filing a lawsuit to recover damages from the effects of a crash, you will need evidence of those damages, whether to yourself, a passenger, a bystander, or the car or other property. If you have a smartphone, take multiple pictures.

Exchange insurance and contact information with any other driver.

Who Is Liable?

Liability in a vehicle accident can rest with the person who caused the accident. All drivers need to drive responsibly and obey laws and safety rules.

However, accidents are not always caused by human error. Accidents can have multiple other causes, including vehicle malfunction, condition of the roadways and more. A thorough investigation, as well as the police report, is sometimes required to assess the causes of an accident.
