Big Rig Tanker Crash Closes Southbound I-5

Big rig tanker crash and spill I5Two big rigs collided Thursday in the southbound lanes on Interstate 5 about 2:30 pm. The California Highway Patrol reported a truck carrying asphalt was rear ended by a truck carrying paper at Grapevine Road. Asphalt then spilled onto the road and ignited engulfing the truck in flames and causing a brush fire nearby. Crews worked to douse the flames for several hours.

The grass fire had been reported to be as large as 338 acres. Aircraft, fire personnel and hazmat responders had been deployed to assist in the aftermath of the crash. Traffic was diverted; the fourth lane will remain closed for the balance of Friday.

Driver errors such as lane departures, rear-end accidents or loss of control can lead to adverse consequences.  The sheer size of a commercial motor vehicle means more overall momentum and force in a crash and therefore more serious injuries. More serious injuries mean greater resistance from liable parties who will be more willing to put up a strong legal defense. The Los Angeles car accident lawyers at Ellis Injury Law have the skill and experience required to overcome the opposition and win cases in court.   Call our office for a free and confidential consultation:  310-641-3335.
