Driver Flees From Crash Scene and Is Killed in a Second Crash

Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer

Early Friday morning, a man in a white Lexus was driving on the 101 Freeway. He crashed into another vehicle at around 7:45am, but then drove off, failing to exchange information with the other driver.

The driver in the other vehicle was able to get the attention of a sheriff’s deputy that was driving past on the freeway. The deputy attempted to stop the fleeing Lexus but ultimately stayed with the hit-and-run victim.

Tragedy strikes twice

According to the LAPD, the driver in the white Lexus headed south on Benton Way in the Westlake District, still fleeing from the hit-and-run scene. Unfortunately, he hit a dip in Temple Street and lost control of his car. He spun out and hit the front of yet another car, rolled, and caught fire.

The driver was partially ejected in the crash, and the responding firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department were able to extract him from the burning Lexus and extinguish the flames. The driver was brought to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was only 24 years old.

The surviving victims

Luckily, the driver of the other vehicle that was hit by the Lexus in the second crash survived. KTLA reported that the second driver was on his way to work when his car was hit by the white Lexus, and he witnessed the car going “airborne” before rolling and catching on fire.

Though the man that was hit in the second crash complained of pain, his son said his father was “fine.”

It could have been much worse.
