Authorities recently identified the deceased man as Christopher Ramirez, 21, of Pacoima. The deceased woman was identified as 20-year-old Tayry Romero of Sylmar.

It was reported by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety that the stability of the affected part of the building had been compromised.

No other details have been released as of yet regarding the potential causes and contributing factors to the crash.

Vehicle/building crashes: Liability issues to consider

Accidents that involve vehicles crashing into buildings aren’t as uncommon as you might think. When people are inside the affected part of the building, the injuries can be horrific. If you’ve been injured due to a vehicle striking your home or place of business, you can consult a car accident lawyer to learn about your legal options.

One of the first steps your lawyer will take is to sort through potential liability issues. The cause of the accident will play a major role in determining which party is at fault for your medical expenses, lost wages, and property damage.

Some of the most common causes of car crashes include distracted driving, drunk driving, driving while impaired by drugs, and reckless driving. It’s possible for a driver to lose control and strike a building because of excessive speed, particularly if street racing is a factor. In some cases, it may be determined that the driver, due to a medical condition or perhaps due to advanced age, became confused and depressed the gas pedal instead of the brake.
