The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle crash on the San Bernardino 10 Freeway in Baldwin Park this past Sunday, May 11, 2020. The crash, which happened at about 1:40pm, occurred on the close to the Francisquito Avenue off-ramp on the eastbound side of the highway.

The car accident shut down five lanes of the busy motorway and lead to the issue of a SigAlert, meaning significant traffic disruption, at 2:22pm. The traffic lanes were not reopened until 5:49 pm, meaning the accident caused about 4 hours of severe traffic interruption.

Devastatingly, a young boy was killed in the collision. His exact age was not reported. However, it was confirmed that the car accident was the direct cause of his death.

Car accident victims have the right to pursue compensation

This case is a prime example of the devastation car accidents can cause. From painful injuries and lifelong disability to, like in this case, loss of life, car accidents lead to severe trauma and loss. Los Angeles car accident victims have a legal right to pursue compensation for these losses if the accident was through little or no fault of their own.

The road to compensation in a car accident case can be long, emotional, and winding. Therefore, it is necessary to retain the services of a car accident lawyer for guidance, support, and legal representation.

Lawyers can support car accident victims from day one, helping collect vital evidence from the scene, preventing common mistakes like giving a recorded statement to an insurance company, and looking out for the victim’s best interests.
