Consumer Group Releases 10 Worst Toys of 2014 List
The product liability attorneys at Ellis Law hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday season, enjoying precious time with loved ones during the next few weeks.
The holiday season is filled with gift giving ─ especially when children are involved. In that spirit, the Ellis Law team would like to urge parents to first do some research on any toys you plan to give to your kids, as they all are not created equal. Some manufacturers hastily construct toys without giving a thought to the safety of the children playing with them. Consequently, many children end up with injuries from their new toys, instead of endless hours of fun.
2014 worst toy list
Most children have probably already made their holiday gift list ─ and checked it twice. However, before making any purchases, it’s important to check the 2014 Worst Toy List, created by consumer group, World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc.
The organization examined a variety of popular toys for children ranging from infants to eight year-olds and found the following 10 to have the ability cause the most harm to your children:
- Air Storm Firetek Bow
- Radio Flyer Ziggle
- Catapencil
- Alphabet Zoo Rock & Stack Pull Toy
- Swat Electric Machine Gun
- Wooden Instruments
- Bottle Rocket Party
- Lil’ Cutesies-Best Friends
- True Legends Orcs Battle Hammer
- Colored Hedgehog
“The particular toys on the list are illustrative of some hazards in toys being sold to consumers, and should not be considered as the only potentially hazardous toys on the market,” warns W.A.T.C.H.
Parents want to give their children toys on their wish list this holiday season, but not at the expense of their health and safety.
“Toys that reflect themes promoted in the entertainment media and toys that are marketed inconsistently with warnings and instructions can mislead parents and present hidden hazards to children,” notes W.A.T.C.H. “Toy guns, bottle rockets and bows and arrows, on the list this year, may seem exciting and intriguing to children, but have the real potential to lead to tragic, sometimes deadly, consequences.”
