Castaic Motorcycle Crash Injures Four
A collision between a motorcycle and an SUV in Castaic injured all four people involved, two seriously. The impact of the crash caused the motorcycle to careen into the center divider, according to officials. The motorcycle’s driver and a passenger both sustained serious injuries that caused an advanced life support crew to be dispatched to the scene.
The SUV’s driver and one occupant sustained minor injuries.
The crash occurred between Hasley Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road on I-5, in mid-morning. The collision caused traffic cones delineating a construction site to be scattered widely. Southbound lanes of I-5 were closed for approximately an hour.
None of the crash victims have been identified. It was not immediately known what caused the accident.
Assessing Negligence in a Vehicle Collision
The causes of an accident can’t be determined while an investigation is underway. However, certain things are always true in assessing vehicle crash negligence in the state of California.
Upon receipt of a license, all vehicle operators are required to use reasonable care in the driving and operation of the vehicle. Reasonable care means obeying the rules of the road. It means using reasonable caution about the driving environment, such as construction work or climate conditions like rain or fog. It means acting safely toward other vehicles, pedestrians, and all other possible participants.
The state is required to safely maintain roads, signals, and signs in reasonable shape and repair them if necessary.
If a crash results in injuries or death as a result of negligence, legal claims may be brought against the negligent party. If a driver or anyone else involved in the accident fails to use reasonable care, they may be negligent.
A driver who runs a red light, for example, may be determined to be negligent by a jury. Obeying traffic signals is one of the rules and laws of the road.
