Car Crash Kills One Woman and Injures Several Others

On Wednesday, July 8, a 23-year-old woman was killed, and several others were injured in a single car crash in Torrance.
According to the Torrance police, at approximately 12:28 am, 2015 Dodge Charger holding one driver and four passengers was going north on Crenshaw Boulevard. As it neared the intersection of 190th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard, the Dodge Charger went over the center median and hit a light pole on the southwest corner of the intersection.
Though the investigation is not concluded, the local police said in a press release that speed appears to have contributed to the accident.
The dangers of speeding
Officers arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and found all five people in the ruined car. Every individual had sustained injuries in the crash, but some were more serious than others.
Local Torrance firefighters also arrived at the crash site to help treat the passengers and driver. Only one passenger, a 26-year-old Los Angeles resident, walked away from the scene with minor injuries.
Two other passengers, one a 22-year-old female from Compton and a 23-year-old female from Torrance, were rescued from the car and brought to a local hospital with substantial injuries. The driver, a 22-year-old man from Torrance, was also brought to the hospital for treatment.
Sadly, the fifth person in the car, a 23-year-old woman from Redondo Beach, was killed. She succumbed to her injuries at the crash site.
