Ellis Law Corporation is proud to announce that founder and senior partner Andrew Ellis has been selected to the renowned California Super Lawyers® list for 2020. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Mr. Ellis has been chosen to receive this prestigious honor for his exceptional work in the field of Personal Injury Law. Less than 5 percent of lawyers practicing nationwide are granted this annual distinction.

Super Lawyers determines its ratings based on a rigorous screening process that includes factors such as peer evaluations, a track record of successful results for clients, community engagement, and other accomplishments.

Andrew Ellis In the National Spotlight

Super Lawyers magazine will include a profile of Andy Ellis.  Every attorney practicing in California receives the annual Super Lawyers list, and the publication is sent to ABA-accredited law school libraries for reference purposes. The list of honorees also appears in top city and state magazines, and receives national media attention.

The Super Lawyers list enables the public and other attorneys to consult the top lawyers in their fields when seeking legal representation. It is a resource second to none. Lawyers in every state, as well as Washington, D.C., are included on the list.

Super Lawyers Evaluation Process

The multiphase Super Lawyers selection process is extraordinarily thorough. The phases include:

1. Nomination – Lawyers are not permitted to self-nominate, but are nominated by peers who practice in their state. To submit a nomination, the individual must have firsthand knowledge of the candidate’s work in court. An attorney-led research team then examines the candidate’s credentials, including professional competence, as well as honors or certifications received by the nominee.

2. Evaluation – The research department evaluates nominated lawyers, taking many factors into consideration, including settlement and verdict history, the candidate’s experience, representative clients, and all awards and honors. Further determination is based on the nominee’s education, ranking within his or her law firm, publication of scholarly articles, lectures, and more. Pro bono or community service work is also part of the criteria.

3. Blue Ribbon Review – This phase involves peer evaluation of nominees by attorneys in the same practice areas. At this stage of the rating process, candidates with the highest point accumulation rank other nominees on a 1 to 5 scale.

4. Selection – Selection to the Super Lawyers list is given to those attorneys with their practice area’s highest number of points. Before the designation is deemed official, the licensing status of each lawyer is checked. There is also an intensive internet search to ensure the lawyer is not facing issues that may negatively affect their reputation. Prior to publication, every attorney selected receives the content information to verify accuracy.
