Here is a look at the 3 fatal car accidents occurring during one week in the Los Angeles area.

Driver Dead, Deputy Injured in Suspected DUI near Lancaster

In the first car accident, a driver died at the scene in Lancaster after hitting a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department vehicle on patrol. The driver is suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.

A deputy inside the LASD vehicle sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. She is in stable condition, according to LASD spokespeople.

The driver’s name has not yet been released. The crash is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Antelope Valley Division.

Multi-Vehicle Collision Claims an Elderly Woman’s Life, Injures Two

An elderly woman died in a multi-vehicle crash in Saticoy as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. Ventura resident Anita Montiel, 73, was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The crash occurred on the Santa Clara River Bridge on Highway 118 bridge, near Los Angeles Avenue and County Drive.

The CHP indicated that a Chrysler 300 driving westbound hit the back end of a semi truck. The accident caused the Chrysler to swerve into the opposite lane, where it hit Ms. Montiel’s Volvo S60 in the eastbound lane.

The Chrysler’s two occupants were hospitalized with moderate injuries. The semi truck driver sustained no injuries in the crash.

Woman Dead, Child Critically Injured in Crash on the 5

A collision on the 5 Freeway near Sylmar killed a woman and injured her three children. One of the children, a boy 8 years old, was in critical condition. The two other children, whose age and gender were not released, are hospitalized in fair condition.
