The incident occurred shortly before 4 am Wednesday on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Indian Hill Boulevard. Two men driving a Kia Optima were killed instantly as they collided with a parked tractor trailer on the right shoulder of the freeway. The roof of the car was sheared off and the impact pushed the trailer into the shoulder wall. The car was pinned underneath the trailer according to California Highway Patrol. Both driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Circumstances surrounding the cause of the accident are unclear, pending further investigation.
